Victoria Ballet Theatre believes ART CAN change lives.
That’s why we have have become a Texas Cultural Trust Partner in the Arts. The Texas Cultural Trust has embarked on the Art Can program. Art Can focuses on arts education advocacy and research. It strives to communicate to policy leaders what teachers, creatives, and many parents intrinsically know: ART CAN and should be a core part of every child’s academic experience.
The Texas Cultural Trust’s Art Can data proves how indispensable arts education is for all Texas students.
Several years ago the Texas Cultural Trust set out to measure the tangible impacts of arts education on student outcomes. The Trust’s ongoing research consistently shows that access to arts education decreases dropout rates, increases standardized test scores and that Texas students with exposure to the arts are more likely to attend college.
And that’s only part of the story…
In addition to revealing why the arts are essential to every student’s education, Texas Cultural Trust research makes plain the sizable contribution of the arts to the future of Texas’ creative economy. Today, the arts in Texas generate more than $5.59 billion per year in taxable sales.
That’s FIVE BILLION additional reasons why Texas students cannot afford to see us remain on the sidelines.
Visit ArtCanTexas.org TODAY to get involved and take action by encouraging policymakers to support arts education for all Texas children.
Together we can shape the cultural, economic, and educational future of Texas by increasing awareness and access to the arts.
