Dance Education & Movement Initiative (DEMI)
Since 2001 the Dance Education and Movement Initiative, or DEMI for short, has provided dance instruction and exposure to at-risk students in Victoria through collaboration with local schools, Mid-Coast Family Counseling Services and Victoria Boys & Girls Club. Students attend dance classes taught by Victoria Ballet Theatre staff and are given performance opportunities in various venues. Dancers who are identified by their talent and passion for the art of dance may be awarded scholarships to further their training in a more formal setting.
